Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is now Co-Finance Minister of Malaysia replacing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who has taken over his post of Defence Minister.
The other Finance Minister remains Tan Sri Nor Mohamad Yakcop, the economic adviser to the Prime Minister.
While the Opposition alleges that there is a plot by Umno dissidents such as former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Muhammad’s son Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir to have Najib stage a coup de etat, such allegations have been dismissed as rubbish by both the PM and DPM as well as supporters of the ruling conservative coalition the National Front or Barisan Nasional (BN).
