About Maroon 5

Thanks, Wikipedia.

Maroon 5 is an American rock band originating from Los Angeles, California.

Comprising five members - Adam Levine (guitar), James Valentine (guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards), Mickey Madden (bass) and Matt Flynn (drums), the band is best known for the hit songs Harder To Breathe, This Love, Wake Up Call and She Will Be Loved.

Maroon 5 has won several awards for its debut album Songs About Jane released in June 2002.

Original member Ryan Dusick left the band in September 2006, due to health problems and was replaced by Matt Flynn.

Three members of Maroon 5 have known each other since attending junior high school together in Los Angeles.

While attending Brentwood School in 1995, Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael joined up with Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick to form Kara's Flowers, a grunge band.

In 2001, the band renamed itself Maroon 5, when Valentine became its newest member.

Since then, it has collaborated with popular musicians and vocalists of the US such as Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton and John Mayer. It has also worked with The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Gavin DeGraw, Matchbox Twenty, Sugar Ray and Jason Mraz.

The group’s major hit Harder To Breathe has courted controversy as its lyrics appear misogynistic to women.

Maroon 5 has won the Billboard Music Award 2004 for Digital Artist Of The Year, MTV Music Award 2004 for Best New Act, Grammy Award 2005 for Best New Artiste and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group (This Love).

This Love was used for the film Wimbledon starring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany.
